Travel Tips: Should You Install eSIM Before Departure?

Since installing an eSIM requires an internet connection, we generally recommend installing the eSIM one day before your trip. If you prefer not to install it in advance, you can also install it upon reaching your destination by connecting to free Wi-Fi at the airport or in your hotel.

Installation Timing:

Install your eSIM 1-2 days before your trip. This requires a stable Wi-Fi or data connection to download the eSIM profile and complete the installation.

Complete the eSIM setup well in advance to avoid any issues due to weak or unavailable internet connections as you travel.

Activation Strategy:

Wait to activate your eSIM data plan until you've arrived at your destination or are just about to. Activating it too early could unnecessarily consume your data plan's validity.

Location Requirement for Activation:

You need to be within the country or region covered by your eSIM data package to connect to the local network. Activating the eSIM while still in your home country may not work if the networks are not reachable.

Activation Process:

Activating your eSIM data plan is straightforward and doesn't require a Wi-Fi or data connection. It involves adjusting your device settings to select the eSIM for data usage.

Testing Your eSIM Data:

After activation, turn off Wi-Fi to test and ensure your eSIM data connection is functioning correctly. This confirms that you're connected to the local network via your eSIM.
