iPhones:

Note:

eSIM availability depends on the model and its original sales region. Your iPhone must be carrier-unlocked to use a travel eSIM from another provider.

Mainland China models

Most older mainland China models do not support eSIM. Supported models include iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 17e, and iPhone Air; iPhone Duo also has announced eSIM support.

On supported mainland China models, eSIMs from non-mainland China providers cannot be installed while physically located in mainland China. Installation abroad requires Location Services to be enabled. Confirm your exact model and travel eSIM compatibility before purchasing.

Hong Kong and Macao models

Apple lists eSIM support for iPhone XS, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), iPhone 16e, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Other regional models may use two physical nano-SIM cards instead. Check the exact model before purchasing.

Older models

iPhone X and earlier models, including iPhone SE (1st generation, 2016), do not support eSIM, regardless of sales region.

Pixel 3 / 3 XL: eSIM is unavailable on devices purchased in Australia, Taiwan, or Japan, or through U.S. or Canadian carriers other than Sprint and Google Fi.

Pixel 3a / 3a XL: eSIM is unavailable on devices purchased with Verizon service or in Japan.
